Frog Dissection Class Response Blog
Yesterday in class, we were given the task of dissecting a frog. First, we had to place the frog in the tray. Next, we used scissors to lift the abdominal muscles away from the body cavity and cut along the midline of the frog's body. Then we made horizontal cuts near its arms and legs. We then lifted the flaps of the body and pinned them back exposing the frogs organs. We had to locate various organs such as the cloaca which is part of the urogenital system and the urine, eggs, and sperm exit out of it. We also had to locate the spleen, the testes, the oviducts, the bladder, the liver, the kidneys, and the fat bodies. In this experience I learned a lot about frogs and how they function. For instance, i learned that food enters in their mouth, passes through the esophagus, travels to the stomach, then to the small intestine, down to the large intestine, then exits the anus. Also, I learned that the liver is the largest body cavity a frog has. Without it, the frog will die. Overall, the frog dissection helped me not only learn, but understand the way a frog's body lives and functions. I am happy to have had the experience!

How Global Warming Relates to Math
Global warming relates to math in a few ways. For instance, temperatures world wide are increasing greatly. The Earth ,on average, has increased by .9 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, the sea level is rising and will continue to rise if global warming continues. In addition, global warming increases natural disasters such as hurricanes and tsunami's. These horrific tragedies tear through many innocent peoples lives, destroy their homes, and takes away some of their store of fresh water and food. In order to repair all these results of global warming, the world will have to give a lot of money to get building teams to fix homes and pay for food and water. These disasters will only continue to get worse if nothing is done to stop global warming.

Haiti Relief Effort Faces 'Major Challenge'-NYTimes.com
When: This past Thursday
What: Rescue organizations were trying to get to Haiti by air, land and sea on Thursday, but many were confronted with many obstacles that slowed the transport of rescuers, food and medical supplies into the desperate country. Haiti is currently in very bad condition due to the earthquake that recently struck.
Where: Haiti. Specifically, Port-au-prince
Who: Many rescue organizations from around the world that were trying to get to Haiti.
Why/why this is important: They were trying to get there in order to help people who were in danger, bring extra supplies for those in need, and to help out with anything else they might be needed to do. This is very important because many people were injured in this disastrous catastrophe.
